Mr Fire Prevention Ltd (formerly MHIC Ltd) was founded in 2018 by Mark Helliwell after retiring from a 30 year career in the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

I retired as an Operational Station Manager in 2019 to start my own independent Fire Safety Services.

During my time as a fire officer, I have undertaken fire risk assessments under the Fire Safety Workplace Regulations 1997 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

I have also worked as a Level 2 Fire Investigation Officer where I have attended numerous fire related incidents in premises to determine the origin, cause, and development of the fire.

In 2019, I completed the Fire Service College Fire Risk Assessor course and worked as an associate fire risk assessor for a number of established fire risk assessment companies where I completed fire risk assessments in various types of premises including restaurants, nightclubs, public houses, factories, warehouses, schools, HMO’s, holiday let premises and purpose-built residential buildings.

In 2020, I commenced working as an associate tutor at the Fire Service College, delivering NFPA Fire Investigation Courses for international students and the Fire Service College Fire Risk Assessor Course and currently the FireQual Low, Medium and High-level Fire Risk Assessor Courses.

I am a member of the Institute of Fire safety Managers (IFSM) and registered as a competent Tier 2 Fire Risk Assessor.

I have recently completed the Level 4 FireQual Award in Fire Risk Assessment in High-Risk Premises at the Fire Service College.

Mr Fire Prevention Ltd is focused on unrivaled customer service; through developing trusting relationships, providing professional support and advice relating to fire safety matters and working with the Responsible Person to improve the overall fire safety management throughout the premises they are responsible for.
